Ringicula auriculata identifiés à partir des Images de Oxord Digital Library. J' ai trouvé ces petites coquilles en tamisant le fond du lot acheté sur Ebay. Je n' ai jamais su d' où elles venaient sinon que le lieu d' expédition était dans les Gorges du Verdon, région riche en gisement du Plaisancien. Cette espèce ainsi que d' autres de la même époque sont toujours d' actualité en Méditerranée ou en Atlantique. Taille: 5/7 mm.
Ringicula auriculata identified from Images Oxord Digital Library. I have found these small shells in sieving the bottom of the lot purchased on Ebay. I 've never been able to know where they came from except that the place of dispatch was in the ''Gorges du Verdon'' region rich in deposits of Plaisancian. This species and others of the same era are still relevant in the Mediterranean or Atlantic. Size: 5/7 mm.
La (les) différence d' avec Ringicula buccinea est ténue: la principale semble être la présence de stries spiralées chez buccinea. Ci-dessous un exemplaire qui me semble caractéristique de chacune des deux espèces. Ringicula auriculata serait plus petit que buccinea. Mais une certaine confusion semble régner autour de ce taxon: on trouve Ringicula auriculata var. buccinea !!!!! Autre source d' identification qui ajoute à mon désarroi: Palaeontographia Italica : Memorie di paleontologia (1895) et International Fossil Shell Museum
The difference with Ringicula buccinea is tenuous: the main seems to be the presence of spiral grooves on buccinea. Below is a specimen that seems characteristic of each species. Ringicula auriculata would smaller than buccinea. But it seems to be some confusion around this taxon: found Ringicula auriculata var. buccinea!!!
